As long as there’s such a thing as time, everybody’s damaged in the end, changed into something else. It always happens, sooner or later.

My facebook status is “Alone in a crowded room”.

Most people think I’m referring to the song.

I’m not.

poem

Gandhi once said:

“To a man with an empty stomach food is God.”

But I wonder what Gandhi

would say about my empty heart

What God must I pray to, for love?

Mr. Mahatma,

You speak in riddles.

The emancipation of your words

Permeates into the air around you leaving

A cloud of questionary precautionable wonderment.

Leaving us to create algorithms for ideas

Numbers can’t even recognize.

You make my head hurt bro.

Not in this pithy poetical way.

You make my head hurt, like brick walls,

hangovers.

And small children.

You get the idea.

Kelsey Lee, whose name on facebook is Kelsey Sachi

Said “Tears are eye vomit”

And I wonder, does that qualify me an ocular bulimic?

Because I’m a sensitive kid

And I could do with losing a bit of emotional weight.

I spend just as much time crying as I do smiling these days.

And studies show, women are better multi-taskers than men.

Allen Ginsberg says that he “saw the best minds of his generation consumed by madness.”

This is interesting.

Because either Howl was crafted by a madman, in which case an appeal by the conservative white folk of America is in order

Or, he wasn’t a best mind of his generation.

ee cummings wants us to “pity this busy monster manunkind”

And since I’m not carrying my species identification card today,

Maybe I can feign membership to another group

Like Ursus Maritimus, Polar Bear

Crocodylus acutus, American crocodile

Or Corvus corax, the common raven.

And hey, if I’m lucky, maybe some modern day Poe will write a poem about me.

So even if I’m haunting there’s a chance I will be on your mind once again.

DH Lawrence says that “he never saw a wild thing sorry for itself.”

So I guess he missed the 3,670 apparitions of hormones that call Punahou School home

He must missed the 1,275,194 human like inhabitants of the Aloha state.

I bet he missed all 7 billion humans on the face of this planet.

I say he misses us, we apparitions, we constellations of heartbeat, because we are wild things. And we have been sorry for a very very long time.

and I have just one question, ok maybe five.

Gandhi

What God must I look to, for replenishment?

Kels

When does crying turn into an illness?

Al

Can you be crazy and sane and brilliant all at once?

EE

Is there a Latin name for surviving?

DH

All the numbers in all the world can’t convince anyone of anything can they?
